Where did the time go? I've been so busy working on projects that I have going on, and I start a new job, outside of the house, tomorrow. I have no clue how I am going to balance everything, but I'm going to give it a try. After all, we can only just try our best, right?

7th Grade Again

Well it's official. My son is going to be repeating the 7th grade. I gave him everything I could to get him to pass, but he choose not to make it happen, so now he will live with his decision. There really isn't anything more I could have done.

Sure it makes me sad, and sure I can get angry about it, but it doesn't help the situation at all. I'm just accepting it, and letting things fall where they may, so to speak.

The Police New Video

The new Police compilation CD hit the stores on June 5th. Did you buy it? I didn't, as I got it free from Universal Music for writing about it. Ever since I got it in the mail I've been listening to it in my CD player in my car. I was really surprised when I opened up the CD and found the vintage poster that was included with it. I hung that right up in our music room where I have other band posters and fliers hanging up.

The Police CD is really good as it's filled with 28 of their most classic songs like Don't Stand So Close To Me, Message In A Bottle, Walking On The Moon, De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, Synchroncity, and the ever popular Roxanne. And that's just a partial list.

Lonely Old Lady

I was at the Dollar Tree store this morning, and I got stuck in a conversation with this little old lady. She was talking to me about these candles that they had for sale, and going on and on about candles, and how they smell. The different scents she likes, how long they burn, if I thought these were worth the money, (a whole freaking dollar remember), and just going on and on and on and on.

I kind of rushed through the conversation as I still had more errands to run before picking up my son at summer school. Trying to get her to stop, and trying to run away. Then later in the car I was thinking about the lady, and how she's probably just lonely, and wanted someone to talk to. And here I was rushing her. That's just rude of me, and now I feel guilty about it.

I mean, here I am with enough time to blog about the conversation, but I couldn't take 5 or even 10 more minutes to talk with her, and maybe make her day a little brighter? I really suck right now.

To Do List

I finally got my butt in gear today, and did some things on my ever-growing to do list. I've been putting stuff off for way too long, and it was time to buckle down and get things done. I don't know when I became so lazy like this. I use to be on top of the game, never procrastinating, always doing things, and now I'm just a lazy bum. I hate myself like that, and I don't know how or why I just suddenly changed. I think it's the computer ;) It sucks me in, and won't let me leave.

7th Grade Math Help

Justin seems to be doing fairly good in summer school. He's getting all his work done in class, and doesn't have homework when he gets home. We were going over a few of his worksheets last night, and I'm thinking that we just might need to look into math tutors for next year. Just that little extra to get him up to speed. I've been reading the success stories on eScore.com, the site for Score! Educational Centers, and they are giving me hope and inspiration to get him some help. The kids that go there, are actually being placed in advanced Math classes at their regular school! I can't imagine Justin being in advanced Math, but that would be just awesome.

Oh someone is in so much trouble right now! I just got a denial of credit notification in the mail, because JR had more than 5 unverified absences in one class. I looked over the attendance online, and everything looks good, meaning none of those are days he skipped, they are just days he didn't bother to go to the attendance office and turn in his excuse note! I just called the school, and I had to leave a message with the assistant principle. I hope she will get back to me soon on this, to see if there is anything I can do. I hate waiting for return phone calls, and it seems schools are notorious for not returning calls!

JR's Job

JR had a good first night at his job. He learned how to bag groceries, get the carts all rounded up in the parking lot, sweep the floors, etc. He even was asked by this little old man to help him with his grocery list. JR said he wasn't 100% sure where everything was just yet, but the man moved slow enough that he was able to find things easily enough. HA! He even gave him a $2 tip when they were finished. He had a good night, and he says that he's going to like his job.

Have you ever thought about being a spy? We have several times, in fact, we've been looking into private investigation with another family member who is looking to change careers. He already bought a gun, and is now going through the steps to get the permit to carry a concealed weapon. Sounds exciting huh? We thought we could make it an entire family business, and even get the boys involved, when they get older of course.

The kind of spy tools that I grew up watching on TV were the 007 ones of course. The radio purse, the needle ball point pen filled with poison, and the exploding lipstick. Those movies always had the coolest ever spy toys.

Starting June 28th comes a new show called USA Network's Burn Notice, that will as the title says be on the USA Network. It's about a CIA agent, Michael Weston, who gets fired from the CIA. He travels back to his old stomping grounds of Miami to find out on his own why he was fired. You don't want to miss it, because I'm sure he will have a whole briefcase filled with spy gadgets and cool toys.

Just Talk

I'm going to a job fair tomorrow night for one of the major airlines here at the airport. They have several positions open, so I want to check it out, and see what it's all about. Shrugs. I guess you never know until you try, right??? Plus one of the benefits is free travel. You gotta love that one!

JR starts his job this afternoon. He seems pretty excited about it. Oh, I just remembered, I will have to ask Michael to pick him up from work tomorrow night. My job fair starts at 6PM and he gets off at 7PM. Okay, I put it on a postie note ;)

Our friend Steve came over Saturday night and we stayed up until 4AM talking and laughing. It was such a good time, but I was DEAD tired the next day. We just hung out and watched movies all day, and Michael made teriyaki chicken and rice. I just had the rice part, as I had been snacking all day long.

There isn't much going on today. I'm just hanging out waiting to go pick up Justin from summer school and see how well that went. I ended up finding a closer location for him to go to, and it only took me about 10 minutes to get there. I was so fearful of having to drive way across town everyday for 6 weeks!

First Summer Week

So today was the first week of summer break, and my kids actually stayed home for a change. Michael went back to the office to work, and no one came over, so it's been really nice and quiet. No running around playing taxi, and no additional loudness in the house. I even made the three of us lunch, and we sat down and ate together. We had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, with apple slices on the side. It was nice, and a great first day of the summer.

Math Tutors

There is nothing worse than seeing your child fail at a subject in school. No matter how hard we try to work with my youngest son, he still failed 7th grade Math. He's schedule to start summer school next week to make up this credit, so he can continue on to the 8th grade.

The thing is though, the summer school program is 6 weeks long. I know he will pass, but will he really learn the building blocks of Math for him to succeed in the higher grades? I'm thinking not, and we're looking into possible Math Tutors and classes like the ones they offer at Scores Educational Centers. They will give him a test to see where in the Math process he lost it, and start from there, building up his skills, and getting him to grade level, if not beyond.

Lazy Days of Summer

Now that summer is here there are kids everywhere! I just went to the store and what use to be a really good time to go because their wasn't many people there, was now filled with moms and kids. When I shop for 9 months out of the year in silence, it's hard to remember what it's like when all the kids are running around. It's all good though. They are all excited to be out of school, and everyone is smiling. I wish the lazy days of summer could just be everyday.

Never Going To Cut My Hair

Well my son got the job, and he's pretty excited about it. We have a ton of things to do before he can actually get started though. Drug test, health class, new work uniforms, training class, and a hair cut. The manager that hired him said that it's not too long, but they would prefer it to not touch his collar, so he's just going to need a trim. My youngest is going to have to look for work in a skate shop only, because there is no way that he will cut his hair. He says the girls like it too much. LOL!

Paintball

JR use to be so into the game of paintball. I bought him a super cool Spyder Pilot ACS gun for his birthday, and him and his friends use to go nuts at the indoor paintball shooting place. Every once and awhile he will pull his gun out and go shooting up the trees in the backyard, but he really wants to go back to the park and get into some high powered battle with other paintball guys.

He was looking online the other night for a Smart Parts Ion package and found a really great one at Ultimate Paintball. He's already got the paintball chest protector, paintball gloves, and the paintball mask. Now he just wants to add to his paintball gun collection by getting the Smart Parts Ion paintball gun. Working Teenager

My son got a call today from the manager of the market he applied to work at last Friday. Why he called in the middle of the day, when it clearly says on his application that he is a high school student is beyond me. LOL! I told him to call back at 2:30 when he is home.

I had to call my son at school of course to tell him the news, and told him to rush it when the bell rings so we can get home quickly. I'm excited for him. I'm also excited that I won't have to be paying for all his extra stuff anymore. HAHAHAHA!

This Morning Sucks

OMG my morning has started off just freaking crappy as all hell. First the kids were being grumpy, and whiny, and not wanting to get out of bed. I had to walk up the stairs 6 separate times to tell them to get up. The last time was a physical, grab them by the arm, and walk them to the shower. For God's sake, they only have 4 days left, just get the hell up!

Then on the way to school, something happened to my drivers side window in my car. I think it fell off the track, because it went slamming down, where it is staying, and nothing I did would get it to go back up. So as soon as I relax, and my blood returns to a cooler temp below 212 degrees, I will go out and see if I can fix it.

Just when I was gaining some great rankings with Technorati, they went and changed their website and the way they rank people now. I love their site, as I can see who is writing about the same stuff I am, but as far as them rating bloggers, I don't think it holds any weight anymore. It's too easy to manipulate the system, giving you and other bloggers a higher score. Alexa is the same damn way. I hate these ratings, and I wish people didn't care about them so much.

School Is Almost Over

My kids have 6 more days of school left, and next week is all half days for final exams for my high schooler. He has been busy working on his video news story for his Broadcast Journalism class with another friend of his, and I'm anxious to see what they came up with.

My middle schooler has to take math over the summer, and he is less than thrilled about it. Heck, I'm the one that has to get up at 6:00AM and drive him half way across town. You don't see me smiling about that. Oh that reminds me! I need to check on the public transportation bus route to see if there is a direct route he can take. A student bus pass is cheaper than gas, and I can sleep in.

We had such a good brunch today and totally macked out on tons of food. JR wanted all his favorites in a smorgasbord type setting, so we made sliders, little cheeseburgers with grilled onions, known as White Castle on the East coast, cheesy/salsa dip and chips, shrimp cocktails and little smokies in BBQ sauce. PPP Direct

I've been working with PayPerPost for 10 months now. They are the company that does advertising through blog marketing, and so far they've been working out really well for me. I've gained a lot of readership on my 4 blogs that I author, and I've made money doing it at the same time.

They've just released their new marketplace called PPP Direct, where advertisers can specifically choose what blogs they want their advertisement dollars spent on. I think this is a great way for them to get the most bang for their buck so to speak. Parents On Time Out

My son has some friends over tonight because it's his 16th birthday tomorrow. They are spread out all over the house, and my husband and I are being held hostage in our bedroom. "Mom, you guys just stay in here," as he shuts the door behind him. He's putting us on time out, just like I use to do to him when he was 4. My how the tables have turned.

Finding Self Discipline

I've come to realize that I have no self discipline when it comes to working from home. I always start out the day with the greatest intentions, but then somewhere along the way I fail. I'm distracted easily by message boards, and even if I tell myself that I am going to stop in just for a few minutes, I usually end up staying there for most of my day, while my blogging suffers.

While message boards, and social networking sites are great for connecting with other bloggers, it doesn't make much sense to me if I am gaining readership for a blog I am letting go to hell. Know what I mean? This has been a struggle just gnawing at me for months now, and I'm seriously considering just letting it go, because maybe this is just not what my life is suppose to be. Maybe I am to be out in the workforce making the man rich and not me.

The same people that have been the center of every single disruption for the past 10 years. 10 years! The same parties! It doesn't take much more than a 5th grader to figure out why that happens. Now they are at it again. They will never stop. I bet these were the same bitches in high school who would do anything to fit in with the "in crowd." I'm so glad they are out of my life. SO GLAD! I am a member of the Area108 Alien Nation. All it really means is that I get emails from them on area concerts, contest, and events around the city before they announce them on the air. Today I got another email from them asking me to go do their survey on how I felt about their radio station, and the radio in general. Normally I would do this, but I had to be honest with them and say, "I haven't listened to your station in a year." Since getting Sirius radio over a year ago, the local stations have fallen by the wayside never to be tuned into my radio again. I don't miss them at all.

I've never left the United States, but that doesn't mean I don't want to. We have a book on buying a house in Europe and I love to flip through it and dream. I think buying a property in Spain would be a nice investment. Spain is a gorgeous country filled with gorgeous people. Oh I use to love riding our beach cruisers on the beach when we lived in California. Since the divorce I don't have mine anymore, but I would love to get another one. With the young crowd there last night, and two pregnant girls, the talk was based around babies most of the night with the women. They talked and talked about all the things they have bought or wanted to get at their baby showers. Everyone was on the same page when it came to looking for a Pushchair. I sat there for the longest time trying to figure out what a Pushchair was, then it dawned on me they were talking about strollers. With my boys being teenagers, I didn't really feel I had anything to offer to their conversation.

They were talking about the Pushchair guide on the internet so I decided to check it out this morning. The site shows all kinds of types and the accessories that go along with them. Okay, I've pretty much heard it all now. I am ready to tell a handful of people to go south and don't come back. My friend found out her thyroid was all messed up and they gave her medication for it. She feels 100% better now, so I'm wondering if it's my thyroid that is out of whack. Michael and I were talking the other day about all the books I use to own. I tend to buy self help books, auto biographies, or astrology type books.

Man, I have been so busy lately. I went to Seattle to visit friends last weekend and that was nice and relaxing. Now it's back to the grind of work and making people money with their web sites. My teenagers and their cell phones is a constant battle around here. They use to be a part of the family plan that we are on, but whoever came up with that plan obviously doesn't have a family, or teenagers for that matter. For my youngest I ended up getting him a free prepaid cell phones which allows me to monitor how much a month his phone would cost me. For my oldest I am still looking for the best cell phone deals I can find out there. The thing with them is they spend more money on ringtones, screen savers, and text messaging than they do for actual phone calls. The majority of the text messages sent from my 10th graders phone is during school! I explained to him how passing notes was much cheaper ;)

My cell phone is dying. It's an old Sanyo flip phone and the flippy part of it isn't working anymore. When someone calls it doesn't show anything in the little window unless I squeze it together. I think it's the hinge part that is broken. Technically it still works because I can make and receive calls I just can't see who is calling me. I was looking around online and found some Samsung mobile phones that look pretty nice. My boyfriend has the Samsung Bluetooth E370 and he really likes it alot. I'm not too picky about what phone I get as long as it's pink :)

Do you guys like seedless watermelon? We bought one at the store and I swear they don't have the same taste as one with seeds. Are they scientifically engineered to not produce seeds? Well I had to go find out. I found a site How is seedless watermelon grown?. They say that watermelon breeders discovered that crossing a diploid plant (bearing the standard two sets of chromosomes) with a tetraploid plant (having four sets of chromosomes) results in a fruit that produces a triploid seed. (Yes, it has three sets of chromosomes). This seed grows fruit that rarely develops seeds, although you may find some empty white seed coats. The melon's flesh is firmer because the usual softening of the fruit around the seeds does not occur.

I don't like the idea of an extra chromosome in my food. I will happily be spitting seeds from now on.
